Batch 15 Participant
Dear Douglas, Benson, Gina and Beng Hoe -
I like to share with you a good news. I passed both Papers, this is my first attempt. I like to thank all of you especially Douglas and Benson for answering so many of my questions related to all CUs...
Dear Fellow students, candidates -
The following are what I have done. For every lesson, i do a quick glance at the LG first and then go and attend the lesson. After each lesson, I read the LG again and this time round, i create a summary sheet(s) for each LG, after that i do a closed book exam by practising the Self Check Questions provided by PTC. If there is any wrong answers, try to google the reasons on why the other answer is right and not yours, email to the trainer to clarify. Even i got the answer right the first time, i will always ask myself WHY not this, WHY not that.
I will do the above for each CU, total 8 CUs. Once I have completed the above, 2/3 weeks before the exam, i will read the summary sheets which i have a created and create a 'snapshot' card for myself to recall those numbers related like the criteria for GCBs, Semi D, etc. These snapshot card are very useful for me esp few hours before the exams.
Once I have completed all the self checks questions and UT tests, I create my own short answers questions so that a few days before the real exams, i attempt all these SAQs again.
Other tips included the following: beside reading the LG, I also try my best to read all the appendices and the attachments given out by the trainers, these appendices usually ignored by student, i find these all are very useful especially to those who are totally fresh to this trade or business. These appendices and templates are the actual practical stuffs currently use by the EAs or SPs. The exam sure to test us on these.
Also spend sometime going through some important websites like HDB, SLA, URA, CPF, etc. I created my own "Favourite" in your internet explore, try to find out what are the rest of the statutory boards under MND, and go to that website and read out the FAQs, the legislation under each statutory boards or anything related to real property.
To pass paper 1, beside using a bit of memory work, it is also important to know the how rather then just memorizing the keyword. If you know how to apply the concept of for e.g. "Ratification" and/or "Estoppels", then it will definitely help you even more.
Last but not least, thanks to all in Pioneer Training Consultancy and all the best to all candidates.
